TICK TREATMENTS
Are you constantly worried and checking your children and pets for Ticks?
We all have the constant thought of tick-borne illnesses such as Lyme Disease. As our children and pets play in the yard, there is the constant threat of discovering a tick on them or bringing pests into the home. Many people are allergic to tick bites, and almost everyone experiences severe itching and painful irritation when bitten. Ticks are one pest that is known to be hard to control. That’s why our Lawn Tick treatment generally involve’s more than one application. The first application reduces active Ticks and most other surface insects. Additional applications may be necessary for continued control as eggs and larvae hatch later. Treatments are effective for 25-30 days. (June-July-Aug are key months for this service) but depend on the weather pattern.
6 things you can do to protect your property and keep your family safe:
1. Remove leaf litter-Ticks like to reside in leaf litter. This builds up creates a warm and often moist environment for them where they won’t be disturbed. Unfortunately, leaf litter is also an attractive spot for children and pets to play giving ticks a great opportunity to latch on to a host. Removing leaf litter from your property will force those ticks to find somewhere else to live!
2. Mow lawn frequently-Many people mow their lawn to make sure their home looks neat and tidy, create a comfortable play area, and stimulate the growth of grass. However, an often-overlooked reason for frequent mowing is to decrease your tick and mosquito populations.
3. Stack wood neatly and in a dry area-Wood piles attract rodents like mice, squirrels, chipmunks, and groundhogs. These rodents are avid carriers of pests like ticks and fleas. Wood piles also retain moisture which attracts mosquitoes. Therefore, it’s important to neatly store your wood in a dry location.
4. Remove old furniture and trash from yard-Small rodents and ticks love to hide in old furniture and trash. These items also tend to retain water which can become a breeding ground for mosquitoes. Just one more reason to de-clutter your yard!
5. Outdoor entertaining areas-Keep playground equipment, decks, and patios away from yard edges and trees and place them in a sunny location, if possible.
